GlobalSkin Member Impact Fund 2025

The GlobalSkin Member Impact Fund financially assists Member organizations in the planning and implementation of patient-led initiatives and projects. 

We are offering one intake period for grant applications that will be funded in 2025. 

Application Intake 

  • November 25 – December 13, 2024

GlobalSkin has established a new system for reviewing Impact Fund Grant Applications. The intake period will remain open for 18 days. This provides equal opportunity for all to apply. All submissions must be in English and will be reviewed and approved AFTER the application period has closed.

Applications will be reviewed using the following criteria: 

  • All application questions are answered.
  • Answers are clear and thoughtful.
  • Application questions are answered with relevant details. 
  • Application demonstrates how the Impact Fund will benefit the Organization’s goals. 

Grant recipients will be notified of the decision in early January 2025. Please note that GlobalSkin will approve a limited number of applications.

We invite applications from Full and Associate Member organizations that demonstrate how they will raise awareness of their disease(s), support their patients, and strengthen their organizational efforts.

Proposals that fall into one of four categories below can be funded up to $2,000 CAD. 

  1. Event Planning: Projects funded in this category will support hosting educational events, either virtual or in-person. Examples of activities that could be funded include conferences, webinars, ask the expert sessions, e-learning opportunities, and townhall events. Funds can be used to pay for online meeting/presentation platforms or for in-person event expenses.  
  2. Communications & Marketing: Projects funded in this category will support the development and/or purchase of marketing activities and materials that raise awareness of the organization’s initiatives. Examples of communications or marketing materials that could be funded include social media ads (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.), traditional media advertising, graphic design, and printed materials such as flyers or brochures, or website content creation. 
  3. Advocacy: Projects funded in this category will support advocacy initiatives that address the burdens of living with a skin condition including psychosocial impacts, medicines affordability, and access to care and treatment. Examples of advocacy initiatives that could be funded include hosting health policy meetings or launching advocacy campaigns targeting local, regional or national or international healthcare bodies.
  4. Organizational Development: Projects funded in this category will support Member organizations in building strong governance and best management practices. For instance, these funds can be used to develop governance structures or become legal not-for-profit organizations. Other activities that can be funded in this category include, strategic planning support, purchase of management software, and information technology support.

Please note the following terms and conditions: 

  1. Applications must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. EST on December 13, 2024.
  2. Applications will be reviewed using the criteria outlined above.
  3. Accepted applications will be funded after the project has been completed and the project report has been submitted. 
  4. Only one application per GlobalSkin Member organization will be funded in 2025.
  5. Funded projects take place between January 1, 2025 – October 31, 2025. Final reports must be submitted by December 1, 2025. 
  6. All applicants (accepted and declined) will be notified by mid-January 2025. 
  7. All funding decisions are final. 
  8. The GlobalSkin logo and the following acknowledgement statement should be included within your project: "This project was brought to you by GlobalSkin's Member Impact Fund." 

There are a limited number of grants available. If there are remaining funds available, we will inform those on a waiting list. 

Application Criteria: 

  • Applicant is a GlobalSkin Full or Associate Member (Affiliate Members do not qualify to apply to the GlobalSkin Member Impact Fund as they are not patient-led dermatology organizations).
  • Project aligns with GlobalSkin Member Impact Fund categories. 
  • Project raises awareness and builds community. 
  • Project reporting must be submitted after the completion of your project to receive funding.
  • Project does not violate any of the exclusions outlined below.

Exclusions: 

  • Funds may not be used to pay for meals for health care providers or policy makers. 
  • Funds may not be used to provide honoraria or any other type of payment to health care providers or policy makers.
  • Funds may not be used to purchase alcohol.
  • Funds may not be used for items for which a receipt cannot be issued.
  • Funds may not be used for World Atopic Eczema Day or Rare Disease Day (as there are already separate funds for these initiatives).
  • Funds may not be used to cover costs of travel for individuals but may be used to support the attendance of patient community members to in-person events hosted by the GlobalSkin patient organization.

Reporting: If your project is funded, you will be required to send GlobalSkin a report describing how the funds were used prior to receiving your funding. Once your project is completed, provide us with the following: 

  1. A grant payment form (template provided by GlobalSkin) 
  2. A report form (template provided by GlobalSkin). This report will include, but is not limited to:
  • A short summary of how the funds were spent for the Impact Fund. 
  • Images or videos of how the funds were used (e.g., screenshots of virtual events, photos of in-person, events, advertising materials, YouTube videos, etc.).
  • Data showing impact on your patient community (number of participants, social media reach, etc.)

Please note: GlobalSkin has a wide reaching and diverse membership, and we recognize the unique financial challenges faced by Members in lower-middle to low-income countries (as defined by the United Nations). To be inclusive and equitable in our programming, GlobalSkin may opt to award funds during the implementation of an approved project for Members living in these identified countries. More details will be available to these Members during the application process.
